Tony Trippe offered to set up a group page for Sheffield Meadows using .Mac.
Having a group site will allow the association to have an online calendar, a discussion list and a mail archive.
Access to the site would be in a addition to the Web site that Mike has already set up for the association.
The idea was discussed at the association meeting on and there was general agreement that we should go forward with setting this up.
| Tony: When I set this up I found out that the site is secure (so we won't have to worry about spammers collecting our email addresses) but each user will have to sign up for a .Mac ID. There is no obligation to do so and it does not cost anything but I am wondering if people will want to do this. Most sites (Yahoo, AOL, etc...) require groups sign up. |
| Tony: (Added July 11th, 2006) I am going to scuttle the group page for now. Some people wondered whether folks would sign up for a .Mac ID just to access the discussion list and calendar. I think they may be right so I will bring it up one last time at the next association meeting. |
